  1. Sorry, did indeed not really follow it anymore. But I am back now :-) The transparent dome I ordered via Ali a few years ago. And I still need to do some measurements how much UV is blocked. Not sure how to do that, as I do have a standard UV source I could use. We want to add more Ambient Light sensors around or observatory. And upgrade the UV sensor to the 2.0 version. Also we want to measure the sky temperature at night with an IR sensor. Not sure how to do that at the moment.
  2. Evening, I struggle a bit with the rain measurements. Do I understand correct that the rain is counted forever? So from the start of running the station? So to calculate the mm rain per time frame. I would need to get the current counter minus the value at some moment in history and that would give we the number mm in that period? If so, is there a way to reset that counter? As I do not see that in the Java API? Cheers, Allan
  3. Hi All, For our Public Astronomical Observatory we created a TinkerForge setup. WeatherStation; - Masterbrick - Ethernet Master extension - Outdoor weather bricklet ( Outdoor Weather station & Temp/Sensor TH-6148 in the telescope Dome to check humidity and check dew point.) - Temperature bricklet & Humidity bricklet (Indoor measurement control-room) SensorStation; - Masterbrick - Ethernet Master extension - Ambient light Sensor & UV Sensor under protecting dome to measure outside light and UV radiation - Will be extended with Barometer bricklet and 4-digit LED We have an small Centos based Server (Mini-PC; Intel Celeron, dual-core, 8GB mem, SSD) running the required processes; - Java programs for WeatherStation and SensorStation which stores the data in standard txt-files. - We use node-red to "tail" the txt-files and store the data in an InfluxDB Database. - Grafana Server is then used to expose the data via http. We have a wall mounted TV and Raspberry PI which is running in kiosk mode and connects to the Grafana Server to show the data in some interesting graphs to the public. The purpose of the setup is not just to show the weather and sensor data, but also to show the public how technology is used to gather data, use programming to do something interesting stuff with the data. Learn programming, learn technology, etc. What other interesting things could we do or show with the Tikerforge components? Any nice ideas? Needs to be interesting, needs to help people to get interested in technology, IT, programming, science and physics? Some explanation of what we setup. We still need to add some better pictures of the TinkerForge setup.
  4. Hi, I had time to work on the wifi problem again. Problems solved. Now using a Windows 10 PC and it all works. WiFi FW updated to latest version. On OSX 10.11.6 it does not work. Well, problem solved. But forced to use Windows :-) Rg. Allan
  5. No, not yet. But will try some of my own programs. I was indeed using a very high update frequency from the Brickviewer. It is not a major problem. And will see what it possible over wifi. Thanks for the response.
  6. Hi, I receive only of timeouts in the BrickViewer when running the LED strip bricklet over a WiFi connection. No way I can controle the LED strip. (Step Down Power + Master Brick + WiFi extension + LED strip Bricklet) When I run the setup via the USB connection (using localhost connection from the BrickViewer) on the MasterBrick it works fine. Meaning I can controle the LED strip. So is it correct that I will need to run the LED strip bricklet setup over a direct USB connection (for example using a RaspberryPI) and it will not work over a WiFi connection? And why will it not work over WiFi? Response is very slow, possible because the LED strip bricklet requires to much bandwidth? Rg. Allan
  7. Oké, so no need to buy a new Mac :-) Yes, I used both. Same issue. Sorry. Well in the end the WIFI 2.0 extensions does work. But no web-interface and not possible to flash it. I will leave it for now. Need to focus on some coding stuff first. I do expect to order new stuff in the coming time anyway, I might post the WIFI 2.0 extension to you before my new order, maybe you can figure out what is going on? And then send it back when fixed, with my future order?
  8. Yep, both are now on 2.4.4. I know, it is strange, but when I do attach the barometer to the other brick is hangs again. Well it is fixed, my weaterstation is fully running again. And I use the other Master brick in an other stack. I just need to remember to keep the weather stations as is. And keep the barometer and my first master brick separated :-) I did try flashing WIFI 2.0 with an other version. I get the same error with all versions of the firmware. Might it be related to my Laptop and the brick viewer? I run El Capitan (10.11.6) not the latest version of OSX?

Ok, Problem with flashing the WIFI 2.0 I assume the flash proces is just to contact the stack via USB. - Open Brick Viewer - Select "updates/flashing" - Select Extension - Click Save - WIFI 2.0 (2.1.3) already selected. When I click save it; - Starts downloading the firmware - Then "Connecting to Bootloader" - After a 1 minute or so the error message in the picture I thought, maybe the stack needs to be in boot loader mode. So I set the Master Brick in Bootloader mode. (All leds out) - Connect to the Master brick via; /dev/tty.usbmodemfd131 - Then try to load the WIFI extension firmware. But that will not work as de Brick Viewer only wants "bin" firmware files. And the WIFI 2.0 2.1.3 Firmware, which I downloaded is in "zbin" format. So I am not able to select it in the Brick Viewer for install. So still on version 2.0.0 and I do not know how to fix it? Any other ideas? Btw; The stack is made up of; - Step down power supply - master Brick - WIFI 2.0
  10. Ok, 1 problem is solved. But not in a way I like it. As I just switched my 2 Master Bricks. So weather station; - Masterbrick (which I switched with my other Master Brick) - Ethernet extension - Barometer - humidity - amb light - lcd screen So it works, but the problem with the Barometer and my first Master Brick is still there. These 2 do not like each other. Problem 2; WIFI 2.0 flashing I am working on.
  11. Oké, next step. I did flash both my Master bricks. No problems. Now both on 2.4.4. So Problem 1; Although my first Master brick (Weather Station) feels very unstable? Looks like my barometer/temp bricklet has a problem, when attached I cannot contact the Master brick using the Brick viewer. When removed from the weather station all works fine. (Weather station, humidity, ambilight, LCD, Ethernet extension) I did switch ports and cables all with the same result? When I attach a UV bricklet to the weather station it works ok. So I know the weather station will work with 4 bricklets. But when I remove any of the bricklets and replace it with the Barometer I cannot contact it anymore with the brick viewer. It is connected, but nothing appears in the overview. And when I connect the barometer to my other Master Brick with sound,humidity, temp WIFI extension it works fine?? So any idea why the barometer bricklet can cause this problem? And remember, this is after I flashed the Master Bricks? Before that all worked fine, it was running 24x7 for almost 6 months without problems? Problem 2; I did try to flash the Wifi 2.0, attached to the working Master Brick, but that fails. See attached picture with the error I get in brick viewer. In the Brick Viewer "Waiting for WIFI extension 2.0 firmware version" Ok, after a while the WIFI 2.0. is back on line. But still on 2.0.0. So it still works, but I am not able to flash it to the latest level? Rg. Allan

  13. Hi, I just received a new WIFI 2.0 extension and have it up-and-running. Works fine, I can connect and read the sensors connected to the Master via WIFI with the Brick Viewer. (V2.3.6) I have the following setup; - Step-down power supply - Master Brick V2.4.0 (with Humidity, Sound Intensity, Temperature, UV Light Bricklets) - WIFI 2.0 extension I only have a problem connecting to the Web Interface. I use the defaults; Port: 4223 (Works fine) WebSocket Port: 4280 (Works fine) WebSite Port: 80 (Not working) I connect to http://192.168.2.198:80 in my browser and I see nothing. Just "not found" as index.html cannot be found.   14. Ok, looks like the problem is gone. When it gets dark the Illumination drops to 1 and there is no change in light level measured anymore. And in the morning when the light level starts to change it starts to log again. I removed the power from the weatherstation and reconnected it after a while. Did that twice and after the second time the problem was gone. Not sure why, but it works and and I am happy.
  15. No, that just gives 0 back during the night. So I assume it has to do with the java code changes or possible something else on the centos box. Was planning to run the orgininal weather-station java code and only add out to file and see what happens. If that works, then it must be something in the code. Also looking at possible trying the php weatherstation code, do the same changes as I did with the java code, just to see what happens. Hope to do that next week, bit busy with work. Hobby has to wait :-(
