xsherlock 0
Hi, I see that on a German forum there is nice discussion on the Beta OH2 bindings, I wish we have the same here in English./ What is the status of the binding?, is it any good for production use? Can we have some documentation? I'm just starting a new major automation project that will be OH2 based and wonder if I can start using that binding or I have to rely on the custom Python/MQTT bridges for all of inputs and outputs. rtrbt 28
Hi, The bindings are still in beta, but everything should be working, there is only some polishing missing, but I've been occupied with other projects for the last few months. There will be some changes to the modeling of some Bricklets, for example input pins of the IO Bricklets are currently OnOffTypes but will be changed to OpenClosedTypes. We actually have documentation available here: https://www.tinkerforge.com/en/doc/Software/API_Bindings_openHAB.html#api-bindings-openhab
xsherlock 0
Ok, but in the docs somehow I can find of the basic thing definition example by text , hope that is still possible by the text file, and you are not relying on the PaperUI.
rtrbt 28
Currently the Bindings only work with PaperUI. I've tried implementing support for the text files, but using them causes strange behaviour where things and channels are duplicated. I'm not sure if this can be fixed easily, as I'm assuming this is a problem with the dynamic thing and channel creation.
xsherlock 0
meh, this is a no go for me, I need a text file config as often I do auto generate things from a template file for repetitive controllers. (like when I have 10 roms with 4 fancoil heaters each). Would that still be a problem when a user would be very careful not to do any things in PaperUI?
dewitpa@hotmail.com 0
Hi, Any chances to have a OH3 Tinkerforge binding. I added the OH2.5 jar file in the OH3 addons folder, reboot raspberry and .... no Tinkerforge binding listed. This OH2.5 jar file works fine on OH2.5.9 version but not on OH3.0 Thanks, Patrick
rtrbt 28
Hi, I'm currently still occupied with other projects, but the openHAB binding development will continue sooner or later. As per the feedback in the german thread, I will probably target openHAB 3 for the "finished" release of the bindings.
Pat28 0
Hi everyone, Now that OH3 is out, i do not find the Tinkerforge binding. It was working with the 2.5 version without any problems. Any idea when the OH3 Tinkerforge binding will be available? Thanks
rtrbt 28
Hi, Sorry this will take another few months. I've got a (slowly shrinking) heap of tasks with higher priority, and once that is done, I will port the binding to OH3 and finish it.
Pat28 0
Hi rtrbt, Any chances to squeeze the new Tinkerforge Openhab 3.0 binding between your other todo list? Thank you. Patrick
rtrbt 28
Hi, I don't think so, sorry. Finishing the binding will take some time, I would estimate about two to four weeks. So it is not really squeezeable. I will continue to work on the binding as soon as the heap of tasks for our charging station is done.
