excal2 Posted October 15, 2014 at 08:50 AM Share Posted October 15, 2014 at 08:50 AM I have a tinker forge dc brick , but I need to have it in two states , forward and reverse based on a switch. I can set it up in the openhab config but im not sure how to setup a second instance with a reverse velocity. Any help is appreciated Thanks Excal
theo Posted October 15, 2014 at 09:12 PM Share Posted October 15, 2014 at 09:12 PM Hi excal2, I think you need two entries for the brick_dc in the openhab.cfg and items configuration. Furthermore you need two switches, one to switch on the forward configuration and one to switch on the reverse configuration of the brick. I've planned some enhanced support for brick_dc, but unfortunately this will take some month because currently I've no spare time to implement it. excal2 Posted October 18, 2014 at 08:05 PM Author Share Posted October 18, 2014 at 08:05 PM Hi Theo Thanks for that , I have tried putting two configs in the openhab.cfg but each time I add the 2nd one in the binding seems to throw an error, i guess it cant allow 2 configs for the same uid . Is there any other way I can get this to work? Many thanks Excal

excal2 Posted November 9, 2014 at 12:50 PM Author Share Posted November 9, 2014 at 12:50 PM Ahh that's really disappointing as this was the only reason I bought this device. Is there any plans to implement sooner?
excal2 Posted November 10, 2014 at 11:48 AM Author Share Posted November 10, 2014 at 11:48 AM Hi Theo Considering that all I now need is to control the direction of a dc motor , is there any other way that I can achieve this , maybe with stepper motor or a relay brick? As I'm using openhab this will control the time of the motor run. Just wondering if there is another solution to the problem. Any info is greatly appreciated Thanks Excal

theo Posted January 31, 2015 at 05:38 PM Share Posted January 31, 2015 at 05:38 PM Hi Excal, there are good news! There is a beta of the binding which has significantly improved support for the Brick DC. It comes with support for Dimmer, Rollershuter and Number items. Besides that the speed can also be set using a percent value. You will find a download link and some in this github issue: https://github.com/theoweiss/openhab/issues/1 Regards, Theo

theo Posted September 10, 2015 at 09:05 PM Share Posted September 10, 2015 at 09:05 PM Hi Excal, these features are released with openHAB 1.7. Therefore just install the newest openHAB release. Since 1.7 you can also control the Brick DC using rules and the new tinkerforge action bundle. Documentation and examples are here at the end of the file: https://github.com/openhab/openhab/wiki/Actions Regards, Theo
