I struggle a bit with the rain measurements.  Do I  understand correct that the rain is counted forever? So from the start of running the station?

So to calculate the mm rain per time frame. I would need to get the current counter minus the value at some moment in history and that would give we the number mm in that period?

If so, is there a way to reset that counter? As I do not see that in the Java API?

Yes, to get the rain per time frame, you have to calculate it yourself. Unfortunately there is no return channel from the Bricklet to the weather station so you can't reset it's rain counter.
