I would like to know if you still plan to add Galileo reception to the GPS Bricklet 2.0. If yes, do you have a release schedule ?

I have not found any other news than these ones : https://www.tinkerforge.com/en/blog/gps-bricklet-20-is-now-available/. Are they the latest ?

I don't own that bricklet, but there's a documentation page for it here, where a screenshot of the brick viewer already shows a Galileo tab:

Yet, in the API doc for getSatelliteSystemStatus it states "Currently GPS and GLONASS are supported, Galileo is not yet supported." So the question remains valid.

Indeed, a Galileo tab is ready. But when you click on it, it displays a message saying Galileo is currently not supported.

Sorry for the late answer, we had to ask around ourselvs to see what the current state is.

 

The GPS module that we use on the Bricklet is a "FireFly X1". It was originally manufactured by GlobalTop and they told us that they will backport Galileo support.

 

However, GlobalTop was bought by Sierra Wireless and they deprecated the series of FireFly GPS modules. The new Sierra modules are now called AirPrime XM.

 

I think it is very likely that there will not be any more updates for the FireFly modules, so the Galileo support will only come with the next hardware update of the GPS Bricklet.

 

We will change the documentation about that, since it is a bit misleading now.

FWIW, the shop page and the documentation  for the GPS Bricklet 2.0 both still say:

"Supports GPS and GLONASS simultaneously (later Galileo through software update)"

Thanks for the hint, i removed the "(later Galileo through software update)" from the shop and documentation.

We did release the GPS V3 in the meantime: https://www.tinkerforge.com/en/shop/bricklets/gps-v3-bricklet.html and it does have support for simultaneous GPS, GLONASS and Galileo!
