tf_archiv Posted December 30, 2011 at 04:16 PM Share Posted December 30, 2011 at 04:16 PM Hi, Have you thought about making a cable or brick that makes it possible to split a stack into two? I would imagine that in larger projects the stack-tower could get too hight to fit in a proper enclosure. Great project! Already ordered and can't wait for the wireless extensions. regards Anton
tf_archiv Posted December 30, 2011 at 04:16 PM Author Share Posted December 30, 2011 at 04:16 PM Ah ok sorry. Anton, this is a great idea. A cable set wich connects the bricks would be a good thing.
tf_archiv Posted December 30, 2011 at 04:16 PM Author Share Posted December 30, 2011 at 04:16 PM i think it could be. all that would need to be done is get the pn for the stack connectors and create a 1 to 1 harness.
tf_archiv Posted December 30, 2011 at 04:16 PM Author Share Posted December 30, 2011 at 04:16 PM Isn't the RS485-Extension this kind of brick you are talking about? http://www.tinkerforge.com/doc/Hardware/Master_Extensions/RS485_Extension.html It is not available yet, but soon. Or did I understand you wrong?
Xenna Posted February 24, 2012 at 08:08 AM Share Posted February 24, 2012 at 08:08 AM The RS485-Extension would require the purchase of two extension bricks and an extra master brick ($$$). It would also make the two stacks higher. I'm guessing the OP would just like to be able to split the stacks to fit them in a tighter space. borg Posted February 24, 2012 at 10:06 AM Share Posted February 24, 2012 at 10:06 AM Mh, the Stack has all together 80 pins. So we would need a board-to-cable connector that has 80 ports and fits on a 4x4cm board. Then we would need a cable with 80 wires between the two stacks. To me that sounds awfully expensive too. However, if someone knows about connectors and cables that would fit this requirement we would be interested to hear about it!
